That fungus has been infecting cicadas forever, it’s not new or weird, it’s just an interesting thing about cicadas and fungus that has fascinated bug people and mushroom people alike for a very long time.

Stay safe out there, I’m in Colorado too, the wind last night was crazy, I’m glad xcel is turning off the power in some places, they don’t need to be starting anymore fires by trying to keep the power on in high fire danger areas, anyone who lives in our mountains should understand that they chose to live in an area with frequent wildfires and they can either have electricity and risk losing their home to fire, or just put up with not having electricity for a bit sometimes. The number of rich people complaining about not having electricity right now because they want to live in our pretty mountains and never be inconvenienced by protection methods is maddening for all of us native coloradans who have been putting up with wildfires caused by those electric lines for years, if these people are so worried about having electricity, they should get solar, or move somewhere where that isn’t a problem.

Our children are raised in a violent world, if they aren’t taught love and empathy by their parents setting a good example, they will grow to be as violent as the world. Take your kids to soup kitchens and nursing homes to volunteer, trust them with responsibilities like caring for a flock of chickens, and take every chance you are given to help them develop their relationship with God through their relationships with others. Like everyone else, children are capable of great good and great evil, it’s our job to teach them to do good. I have 2 sons, my 11-year-old is a wonderful loving soul who stands up to bullies and gives away his lunch so regularly that I started sending him with 2 of everything so he could eat too, and my 3-year-old is still learning self control, but he sees the beauty in everyone, and has a big warm hug for anyone who looks sad 🫶 kids just need to be guided to follow the right path and they can follow it better than most adults I know… when was the last time any of you gave away your lunch?
